Message About a year ago we (I) found that when using the beffy 6 spring hub that it was causing some light chatter with the feramic kits.

Working with a local person that I had put in a kit that should have been perfectly smooth and in the few different kits I have put in my car testing them we found that the 6 spring hub was causing all and any of the chatter in the stage 4 and up kits. As I always do I want to make my customers as happy as they can be with there purchase I wanted to get to the bottom of this issue for him. We found when going to a 4 spring forged hub that the issue was completely gone and as smooth as silk on take off even idleing off from a stop with a Stage 4 OFE kit.

I discussed this with Andy at Southbend and he explained that the 6 spring center hubs have very short springs and cannot absorb the lash in the Z's drivetrain well enough and that is what was causing the shudder/chatter in this particular car. Depending on what the car is going to be used for I now recommend the use of the 4 spring forged hub in the street kits and have them built that way for me from southbend.

I have sold numerous kits in many different cars using the 6 spring hub and never had this issue.

Some Z cars simply did not do it and others did. It has a lot to do with how much play/slop is in that particular cars driveline, mount conditions ect.

I have not had any other complaints about chatter on any of the southbend kits, Most everyone I have talked to about the kits after they installed them love them and rave about how much smoother and better feeling they are than their last kit.

As always if someone was not happy with a kit, Southbend is excellent at taking care of any problems should they ever arise, I think out of the hundreds of kits I have sold I have had 2 problems both which were basically the customers fault but were both replaced with new kits from southbend. They truly stand behind their products better than any company I have ever dealt with. I mean really, what other performance clutch company offers a 12/12 warranty on their kits and will pretty much replace it no matter what..
